Currently, the transportation of people and goods is one of the major sources of pollution around the world. Some people believe that individuals can solve this issue, while others think it is the government’s responsibility. This essay will examine both viewpoints before expressing my own opinion.
On the one hand, individuals can contribute to reducing pollution.
If individuals use alternatives to fossil fuels, it could significantly reduce pollution levels. For example, if people install renewable energy sources, such as solar panels or wind turbines on their rooftops, it would be a good solution for producing clean energy and would positively impact the environment. Moreover, people can engage in tree planting, which is highly effective in reducing pollution.
On the other hand, governments play a significant role in reducing pollution. Authorities can launch awareness campaigns to educate the public about materials that harm the environment. In addition, if the government promotes the use of electric vehicles for transportation, it could help reduce pollution. For instance, in Bangladesh, 80% of people used to rely on plastic bags. However, after the government launched an anti-plastic campaign six months ago, the usage dropped significantly, and now only 20% of people still use them. In my opinion, while individuals can help reduce pollution, government initiatives are more effective in achieving large-scale change.
In conclusion, although individuals can try to reduce pollution, it is ultimately the government’s responsibility to implement long-term solutions. Pollution is a major threat to the environment and is increasing day by day. We should choose green energy to create a healthier planet and reduce our dependence on fossil fuels.
