The line graph illustrates the consumption of whole milk and low-fat milk in gallons from 1970 to 2015 in the United States. Overall, whole milk has experienced a significant decrease in the its consumption, whereas low-fat milk has seen a slight increase in the 45-year period.
In 1970, approximately 25 gallons of whole milk was drunk throughout the United States. However, whole milk had quickly fell out of public favor after 1970, the consumption of whole milk had more than halved by 2000, and had fallen to 5 gallons in 2015.
On the other hand, the consumption of low-fat milk was significantly less than of whole milk, with only 6 gallon drunk in 1970. By 1990, the consumption of low-fat milk has steadily increased to 14 gallons, however had plateaued until 2010. In 2015, low-fat milk had seen a small decrease, falling to 14%.
