The given chart illustrates the individual of age groups were keep abreast with current affairs by three media, namely micro blogging, radio and social networks in a country in 2011.
Overall, it is clear that micro blogging was least popular in all age groups. While social network was preferred in the 10-17 age group, in other older groups, radio was the top choice.
In terms of age group from 10 to 17, social networks was the most popular medium with 80%, two times higher than the radio, ranking in the last position was micro blogging, with merely 20%. With other age groups, radio was predominantly used by two age groups, from 18 to 29 and 30 to 49, accounted for 95%. While social networks was more popular among younger group from 18 to 29, with 80%, this figure just took up 45% in the 30-49 age group. The pattern was followed by micro blogging, at 25% and 15% respectively.
Regarding age groups from 50 to 65+, radio continues to be the most used medium to keep abreast with current affairs, 95% for 50-64 age group and 85% for 65+ group. From 50 years old to 64 years old, the percentages of used to social networks was 45% and 6% for micro blogging. A reversed pattern was recorded in the 65+ age group, with 10% and 5% of social networks and micro blogging respectively.
