The maps illustrate how the centre of Islip, a small town, is planned to develop.
Firstly, it is noticeable that the centre will be surrounded by a newly built dual carriageway and the main road will become for pedestrians only. Furthermore, the shops and the countryside in the north of the main road will be replaced by only one shopping centre, bus station, car park and new housing, to which there will be a road.
In contrast, the shops south of this road will remain at the same place. The area of the park in the south-east of the town’s centre will be reduced to make place for new construction. Moreover, the school in the south-west will have a bigger area.
In conclusion, a lot of construction of houses and new facilities and changes in the roads are expected. If the plan is implemented, the centre of Islip will become way more developed.
