The first diagram indicates the number of women and men in a country in percentages who do different pieces of housework, with main ones being cooking, cleaning, pet caring and repairing the house. The second diagram compares how long it takes them to do each chore on a daily basis.
Females dominate in cooking and cleaning with a considerably high margin, with percentage of them in these home tasks being 80 % and 60 % respectively. While the ratio between these two genders of those caring pets remains nearly the same at 20%:20%, males hold a higher position in house repairs, one of physicality-consuming chores.
The scenario of the proportion of males and females in doing home chores repeats in the amount of time men and women spend on housework. Much of the amount of time spent on cooking and cleaning belongs to women and it amounts for 80 minutes in cooking and 58 minutes in cleaning. Again the ratio in pet caring is equal, being 20:20 minutes, but men spend significantly much time on repairing the house compared to women.
Overall, whereas both the degree of the participation in cleaning and cooking and time spent on them are high on the side of women, men only outnumber in house repairs and spend more time on it than women.
