Limiting suburban development is considered by some citizens to be one of the most useful methods for reducing traffic congestion and improving transportation. However, I absolutely disagree with this mindset due to its negative effects on society.
The truth is that our accommodations don’t have much influence on transportation problems. To begin with, encouraging people to live in cities will have various consequences, such as a shortage of labor in the countryside and an overabundance of city staff. Suburban areas are where food crops are produced. If they don’t have enough farmers for the main activity, starvation could exist in our nation. For instance, in 2020, Vietnam lacked at least three million laborers in agriculture.
Secondly, in this situation, many people have decided to leave their rural areas in order to move to the big cities. The population density in those areas will be too high for governments to manage all the issues that arise from the influx of immigrants. Social ills may have many opportunities to occur, such as drug abuse, theft, and murder.
In a nutshell, living in cities or suburban areas does not have a positive influence on solving traffic or transportation problems. Immigrating to bustling places hastily can make the drawbacks outweigh the benefits, which is why I firmly believe that a large population moving to rural areas will lead to negative consequences for our countries.
