Online learning or e-learning has gained much importance in the past few years . Group studies in a classroom is much more useful than studying at home through a computer. I largely agree to this notion as online learning can never compensate school learning .
Online learning cannot teach students essential life skills . Learning through a computer or phone will only prepare children to answer questions in the examinations , and could provide conceptual clarity. While classroom learning teaches students how to interact , communicate and behave in the Society, in turn preparing them to be responsible citizens of the country. To explain , most children who graduated school during the COVID-19 pandemic , are unemployed because they don’t have the necessary skills to pass an interview.
Peer learning can teach the children to be kind and considerate of one another. As students mingle with other children they try to imagine themselves in the other person’s shoes ,resulting in a more mature attitude. For instance, a classroom is filled with students who come from various cultural and economic backgrounds, thereby promoting equality and inclusion.
Taking everything into account, online learning has more disadvantages than advantages .They could lead to poor results , increased screen time and decreased human interaction. Learning together in a specialized environment such as a class, would eventually help the children in their professional lives as well . Making friends are also an essential part of a child’s development ,which cannot be possible through internet education.
