In recent years, there is a growing lifestyle which prioritizes driving to work rather than physical movements or public transport. From my perspective, this tendency represents a negative development.
On the one hand, using a car is more convenient for a lot of people which can be considered as an advantage. Firstly, if it is really bad weather people would like to go with a car because it is more comfortable for them. Public transport is often crowded with people so there are not always enough places for everyone. Meanwhile, people in the car always have their own comfortable seat. Secondly ,if a person lives outside the city or just far away from school or work it is not possible for them to go on a bike or walk to the place so it is logical and much faster to use a car.
On the other hand, it is true that commuting by car has came with its own set of disadvantages. Firstly, this lifestyle has a negative impact on the environment. The emissions from cars release harmful pollutants such as carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide and particular matter into the air, increasing the risk of respiratory problems, heart disease and even cancer. Moreover, owning a car may become a significant financial drain for most individuals. For instance, the one who chooses to buy a vehicle not only looks at the short-term cost, but also the cost to operate it such as insurance, fuel, maintenance which can make it a poor financial decision.
In conclusion, apart from the advantages of car use like comfort, I believe the disadvantages are more important because it harms the environment and also has a bad effect on people’s health. Also, it is not so convenient as it might look like traffic and the expensive parking places are always a problem.
