The table compares the in four countries in 2007, focusing rail transport usage, passenger statistics and cargo volumes. Generally, China had the highest ranking in passengers using rail transport and the average distance of passenger kilometres compared to the other countries. In contrast, Canada had the highest figure for the cargo carried.
Looking at the passenger numbers, China dominates with an enormously higher compared to other countries, recording at 27 million. Then followed by Malaysia and UAE which have similar numbers, accounting for 5.9 and 5.5 million each. Moreover, Canada took the lowest figures, with the number standing at 0.3 million. A similar trend can be seen in passenger distance where China still led, listed at 2820 km. Malaysia and UAE came next kilometres in the former at 780 and the letter at 770 km. Lastly, Canada had the least population distance, recording at 80 km, which settled in its position before.
In stark contrast, Canada held the greatest number in terms of cargo carried (2820 billion tons), leaving the other countries far behind. Meanwhile China and Malaysia took the next level with figures of 23.01 and 22.2 billion tons respectively. Finally, the figure for the UAE was lower, at about 21.9 billion tons consecutively.
