The line graph highlights the changes in the use of three forms of fuel type from 2001 to 2016.
Overall, petrol were by far most popular form of fuel type. However, the figures for alternative fuels increased during the period.
Looking more closely at the data, in 2001, petrol had the highest number of fuel type at approximately 2 million. The figure fell dramatically to around 1 million in 2011. Subsequently, the number of petrol recovered to 1.5 million in the final five years.
In contrast, the number of diesel were steadily increased from 2001 in around 0.5 million to 1 million in 2006, then a little bit drop between 2006 to 2011. From 2011 to 2016, the figure rose up to around 1 million to approximately 1.25 million, but after 2016, diesel drop from approx 1.25 million to around 0.5 million.
Finally, alternative fuels accounted for the lowest number of fuel type by a wide margin, marking it as the least popular method of fuel type during the period. But after 2011, the alternative fuels was having a small increase.
