The tables provided demonstrate variationsin mental capacity in patients who were diagnosed a mild cognitive impairment. This condition can go further to Alzheimer’s disease and other mental illnesses. In general, two groups of patients were given two different programs to follow for 6 months. Soon, they were tested by their condition depending on three varied categories(memory, thinking speed and word fluency).
First, the Group A was provided a program of doing 1 hour of aerobic exercise everyday for 6 months. Patients from this group could improve their thinking speed and word fluency while their memory remained stable.
Second, the Group B was given a program of doing nonaerobic exercises which consist of stretching and balancing for a half of year. Unfortunately, their all three main areas are deteriorated. Their memory, speed of thinking and word fluency are worsened.
In summary, the charts imply that patients who followed the first program easily fared the experiment and by doing aerobic exercise, they could beef up their mental health and stave off some mental diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia.
