Health is not a choice but a necessity and a robust population is essential for the overall development of a nation. However, this essay argues that civilians must be obligated to vaccinate their children as it prevents the spread of several infectious diseases as well as helps the government to serve the community in an easier way.
To begin with, preventive and social medicine plays a vital role in the severity of the disease process, because when a child is immunised, there are slightly any chances of that disease infecting the pupil. For instance, numerous vaccines for disorders such as mumps, measles, rubella are given to the newborns when they are nine months old and studies have shown that these diseases are eradicated from different parts of the world due to “vaccination drives” held in those countries. Secondly, the rate of deadly infection like rabies, which can even lead to meningoencephalitis and is caused by stray dogs has been significantly decreased too, as measures were taken by parents with the government to control the spread of this disease.
Furthermore, by vaccinating themselves as well as their infants, parents are enormously contributing to the advancement of a state, since, when the younger generation is physically and mentally fit, they can help build a strong nation. Moreover, if the citizens are healthy, the government does not have to face unexpected challenges. To illustrate, it is a known fact that the Covid-19 pandemic drastically affected the global economy, while barging the government authorities in a severe dilemma, as there was scarcity of medicines, hospital beds, respiratory masks along with intensive care units and the whole situation was chaotic. On the contrary, a plethora of uneducated people were not ready to immunise themselves as well as their families. Consequently this chaos would have been avoided only if the citizens willingly accepted those vaccines.
In conclusion, early immunisations should be made compulsory by the law as it not only save the life of an individual but also whole society. Nevertheless, mankind should not take his health for granted and utilise the blessing of vaccines to thrive in this world of emerging infectious diseases.
