The two pictures illustrate mean daily sunshine duration and temperature throughout the 12 months in Melbourne and Darwin.
It is clear from the first graph that the average temperature of Darwin are higher than Melbourne in every month. The coldest month in Darwin is January, at 18 degrees while the hottest month is August in Darwin, at 30 degrees. By contrast, in Melbourne the lowest temperature belongs to January that is only 6 degrees. July is the hottest month in Melbourne and it has the same temperature as the coldest month in Darwin, which is just 18 degrees.
As shown in the second chart,the mean daily sunshine duration in two cities shows a totally adverse situation.In Darwin, the average hours of sunshine has increased from 6 hours in January to about 11 hours in June and keep the highest sunshine duration until September, after which it drops to 8 hours in December. In comparison sunshine duration in Melbourne shows a falling trend from 10 hours in January that is the most for entire year to only 5 hours in May, which is followed by a leveling out until September. From time onwards it rebounds to 10 hours in December.
Overall the average temperatue in Darwin is higher than Melbourne throughout the year and the mean hours of daily sunshine in two cities experience a oposite sitution in 12 months.
