We can see in the graph different percentages of oil resources and oil consumption in many countries around the world. As the chart shows, the distribution of resources changes in comparison with consumption.
To begin with, the Middel East is the unquestionable main source of petroleum, with a 56,52% of world’s production. In spite of this, is also situated in the last five consumers of oil, with just a 6,15% of total.
On the other hand, Asia, the United States and Western Europe have more than 70% of oil consumption, whereas their production is under 10%. The reason for this could be that they are the three world’s main economic powers.
Moreover, other countries like Central and South America or Eastern Europe have a similar production and consumption. In contrast to Canada, Africa or Central and South America which have a higher production than consumption, thanks to the fact they have their own sources of petroleum that it’s enough to provide themselves.
To finish with, some places such as Australia and New Zealand have lower oil resources, but it’s significantly less than other countries mentioned in the text.
