The chart illustrates the amount of GDP in dollars and the numbers of life expectancy in six countries, namely the USA, Australia, Spain, Poland, India, and Mali in the year 2009. In general, people who lived in richer countries tended to have higher life expectancy. It can also be seen that Mali had the lowest figures in both GDP and life expectancy.
In the USA, while the GDP was top of the lead at $45,900, the life expectancy achieved at only 78, which placed at only third position in this category. By contrast, $38,600 was the figure for GDP in Australia which was $8,000 lower than that in the USA. However, the life expectancy in this nation was the highest reaching 82, followed by 81 in Spain.
As regards Polland, although the GDP was $18,000, which was half of that in the USA, the life expectancy of this country was relatively as high as that in the USA. Meanwhile, the figure for GDP in India was $3,000 and 65 for life expectancy. Finally, Mali, which had the lowest GDP, at $1,200, had a life expectancy of only 50 for an average person.
