One of the most memorable car journeys that I’ve gone in where the journey took longer than expected would be when I was traveling in California with my friends. We had gone there for a vacation and we were planning to visit a summit and see the sunset. One of my family members who lived there said it was a really good opportunity and a great experience. So the plan was that we leave it around like 4-5pm and reach the summit around maybe 6 at least so we can get down by 7. However, my friend who was driving somehow got the directions mixed because he’s kind of new to English, he was learning. So he somehow managed to go on the wrong summit and we were driving for at least half an hour before we realized that there was no one on the trail and there are no signs that anyone has even walked here because the roads were extremely unpaved. So we had to pairlessly climb down the mountain a little bit and check if this is even the correct summit. When we found out that it wasn’t even close to the summit that we were going for, we had to get back in the car and drive all the way down. I took at least one hour and a half extra. I felt a little bit stressed because I did not want to get stuck in a car while driving down the road when it’s extremely dark. That can lead to so many different accidents. But luckily we managed to make it safely down and we got the correct directions this time and managed to go to the summit. My family member was totally correct. The view was absolutely gorgeous and a beautiful, beautiful thing to see. I would honestly love to go there again, just maybe not with my friend driving.
