One person who has truly inspired me and someone I would absolutely love to meet one day is Sheikh Mishaari Rashid al-Afasi, a word renowned Qari and Islamic scholar from Kuwait. He is most famous for his incredibly emotional moving and beautifully melodic recitation after Quran, which touches the hearts of millions of people around the world including me. I first came across his voice a few years ago while I was simply searching for a peaceful recitation to help me relax, but as soon as I heard him something clicked, his tone and emotion and the deep reflection in every verse he recites, it felt like the words were directly speaking to my soul. I found myself listening to him every single day, especially in the early mornings or before bed. Over time, his recitations did more than just comfort me. They actually sparked something inside me. They inspired me to start memorizing the Quran, which had always been a dream of me, but something he hadn’t seriously committed to before. Watching him and learning about his journey convinced me that with dedication, sincerity and love for the Quran, anyone can take that state. Anyway, he didn’t just inspire me, he pairs with me to take action without even saying a single word to me directly. If I ever have the honor of meeting him, I would also ask him how he stays so humble and spiritually grounded despite his fame. I would also ask how he maintains consistency in memorizing and exercising the Quran and how to protect the intention, the sincerity behind every verse we read or learn.
