I have visited many historical places over these years and the one which stands out as Taj Mahal which is situated in the banks of Yamuna river in Agra, India. I visited there as part of my college tour three years ago which was organized by our organized by our college. Taj Mahal is a beautiful white marble monument which was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife Muntas Mahal. The moment I set my eyes in it I was mesmerized by its sight. It is a perfect blend of Indian, Persian, Islamic and Turkish architecture styles. There is a beautiful landscaped garden which is surrounded by Yamuna river. The view of it is really breathtaking. Now it is Taj Mahal is considered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and it serves as a tourist place. Despite a tourist place it is also considered as a sacred place and the visitors are expected to show respect while visiting. It attracts millions of visitors from around the globe yearly. When I visited that place I got to know more about the cultural and historical significance. More than that I also learned about the history behind its creation as well as the love story which led Shah Jahan to create such a beautiful monument in memory of his wife. During this visit I got an opportunity to learn more about many things. For example I discovered that it took 22 years and more than thousand artisans to complete its construction. This visit not only entertained or mesmerized me more than that it educated me to know more about the an important chapter in history and to appreciate the profound architecture and cultural heritage of my country.
