Well, I am keen on learning history, so I have read a lot of books related to my field. I want to tell you about the accidental discovery of penicillin, the antibiotic medicine. Its inventor was Alexander Fleming, a Scottish scientist with a passionate sense of curiosity and meticulousness in reviewing experiments. He was often reluctant to throw away bacterial cultures and samples, believing something could be learned from them. Before his vacation in 1928, he left some of his cultures in his laboratory. When he returned, he noticed that one of the plates had grown mold. He observed that the mold killed the bacteria on that plate. Intrigued by this discovery, he began to cultivate the mold on bread, an environment suitable for its growth. He then began to study the mold's properties and its potential as a powerful antibiotic.
