As my country is a Hindu country, most of the people follow Hinduism, and there are many festivals and traditions observed by the Hindu community. My country is rich in traditions, but many of these are becoming extinct due to the influence of Western culture. Among them, different festivals like Chhaneipur Nima and even Thangse are becoming less popular as the youth go abroad and do not return to the country. In Chhaneipur Nima, people used to celebrate by gathering in homes, where they would eat Quati, a mixture of multiple germinated grains that are cooked and eaten. On the day of Chhaneipur Nima, people would visit the holy river to bathe together and celebrate the new year, known as Chanayi, which is considered a sacred land by Hindus. Our priest would visit our homes to tie a band on our arms, which is believed to protect us from negative energy. It was celebrated with great enthusiasm in the past, but nowadays, people are moving away from it due to the lack of youth in the country and the influence of social media and Western culture. To preserve this festival, we should include it in the history curriculum in education. We should also organize programs for newcomers and new generations to raise awareness about the importance of festivals like this.
