It is a heart wrenching biographical drama about a young girl who despite being raised in severely troubled family with drug addicted parents, manage to overcome her circumstances and eventually get accepted into Harvard University. I watched it a couple years ago during my 2nd year at university, It was during a weekend when I was crossing through some inspirational movies online. And I still look upon this one. The reason I thought so strongly about this one is because it’s incredibly inspiring. As a student, I face academic pressures and sometimes feel overwhelmed, but there’s more a story for things. It’s a perspective for me. It made me realize how fortunate I am to have the opportunity to study without having to worry um, my next meal or where I’m going to sleep and not eat. Her determination, determination to not just survive, but also to try in such adverse conditions was a powerful reminder of the humans spirit resilience, the feeling also highlight the the importance of education and how it can be a pathway out of poverty and hardship. It was a mix of emotions for me. I felt sad for her struggles, but also uplift by her child.
