I lived in one of the most crowded neighborhoods, which is the center point of Kuwait for South Asians. Surprisingly, most of my neighbors in that South Asian area were Arabs, local Arabs such as Syrians, Egyptians, and even Lebanese. Other than that, I had my school within a 10-minute walking distance. There were actually many South Asian schools, like Indian, Pakistani, and Filipino schools, but surprisingly, there were no Bangladeshi schools. So, most of us Bangladeshis ended up going to the Indian schools, and actually, most of the South Asians ended up going to the Indian schools as well because they had top-notch education. Surrounding the schools, all South Asian families used to live nearby. The main reason for the crowdedness was because of the community; all of us came to a foreign country in the Middle East, and all the job workers wanted to feel a sense of home. They wanted to create a community where people could feel they were back home and without any judgment. One thing I did notice is that when I came back to Bangladesh, the community was way different than the Bengali community in Kuwait. In Kuwait, it was judgment-free; no one actually judged anyone, and no one talked behind anyone's back. Everyone always understood each other's sufferings. It was a very cohesive and supportive neighborhood. Even though my neighbors were Syrian, they were very hospitable. On weekends, they used to bring out this huge pot to cook biryani or their famous traditional dishes, and they used to offer us some as well. They were also very good cooks; they used to make desserts in those loaf pans or bread ovens. Oh my god, their desserts were the best, both Syrians and Egyptians.
