When I read the card, the first thing that sprang to mind was my mother. She has been a major influence in my life. My mother had her own way of being a good role model for me to follow. She is industrious, patient, and understanding. She's got a good sense of humor and gets along with everyone. Fortunately, I inherited some of these character traits. I think she is proud of me and my siblings. She's quite strict but always fair. Despite the fact that I'm the youngest child in my family, she never pampers me. Besides, she sets a good example by working hard and having an optimistic outlook on life. I vividly remember that she used to leave home for work really early and come home really late. But she's always worked hard for me and my siblings. That's why I admire her; she could maintain a healthy work-life balance. Now my mother is at her retirement. She has more time for the family. But unfortunately, I've been living far from home, so we have very little quality time with each other these days. That's why whenever I get back home on weekends, I make sure I spend more of my time cooking, eating, watching TV, and having an idle chat with my mom. I can confide everything to her—things like my studies, my work, and even my personal relationships. She's always been someone I can turn to for advice.
