Last year, at the beginning of 2024, I visited Cambodia, and I had the opportunity to visit the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, which is a historical place located in the center of Phnom Penh, Cambodia. At that time, this place felt truly terrifying since it was a site for every single victim of the genocide that happened in Cambodia. I visited it by walking, starting from my hotel, and I had the chance to learn more about the details of the war, especially when I used the audio guide that helped me understand the kind of situations that victims faced in the past. At the same time, Cambodia also provided me with a lot of information related to how the national government is trying to resolve this humanitarian conflict. This is also strongly related to international law, which is my concentration in the field I currently work in at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. So basically, I can say that the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum had a strong impact on me, leading me to be more aware of the situations that have occurred in other ASEAN countries.
