Last week, I went to India to visit my friend, and I had no idea what I was going to experience on that trip. After I took my luggage and waited outside the airport, I immediately coughed and my eyes watered. After I got into the taxi, I asked the driver why the surrounding air was polluted and why the sky looked dark and grey. The driver explained two main reasons for this. The first reason is that there are many illegal factories operating without legal permission from the government, which eventually pollute the surrounding air with toxic gas. The second reason is that many vehicles still rely on gasoline rather than electric vehicles. The driver also said the emission regulations are still weak and there are no efforts from the government to switch from gasoline to electric vehicles. After hearing that from the driver, I felt really sad.
