I would totally recommend visiting Vliburg. It is a very old city located around an hour and a half away from St. Petersburg, my hometown. It used to be a Sweden city, then Finland as far as I remember, and a bit later, around the 20th century, Russia took it from both countries. So now it is part of Russia and our citizens can travel there freely. I think it is a very beautiful representation of western city because a lot of architecture in the city center was built in the early 20th century and even before then it was still parts of Finland. Because of this there are a lot of unique buildings specifically in the north modern architectural style which I enjoy a lot. It is quite strict but at the same time very unique especially to Russia because we don’t really have such architectural styles. I would recommend it in order to expand someone’s knowledge on architectural styles and to see how everything works in medieval cities because it was built like a long time ago. It has a lot of culturally Western types of buildings and places there are people during medieval times gathered. It even has its own castle I think which is like a set very interesting in the context of Russia. We don’t have such places.
