The staple crop that I am really familiar with is maize. It is one of the most popular crops in Nepal. It is grown in almost every part of our country. It is very important for farmers, and their livelihoods depend on it. It is also used to feed animals like cows, buffaloes, goats, etc. It is also used by human beings for making various consumables like popcorn, etc. It is used for making roti, a popular Nepali dish, and a dish called Thedo, which is also used as a meal in many Nepali households. What I really dislike about maize is the effort it takes to grow this crop. You must put in extra effort while growing it. Every one or two weeks, you must go to the field and maintain the crop. You have to remove unnecessary weeds and also provide pesticides for proper nutrition. It is very important in our country and supports many farmers. It is one of the economic backbones of our nation. Many farmers depend on this crop and sell it to middlemen for their livelihoods.
