One of the biggest risks that I took in college was participating in a debate competition. Even though I had no prior experience in public speaking, at first I was a bit nervous about how I would present my ideas and worried about speaking too fast or struggling to respond under pressure. However, I knew that participating in a debate competition would help me improve my confidence and communication skills. I decided to prepare thoroughly, practicing with my friends and watching past debates on YouTube to improve my understanding of how arguments were structured. During this competition, I was nervous, but I stayed positive and focused on delivering my speech clearly. To my surprise, I actually enjoyed the challenge, and I even won my first round. This experience taught me that stepping out of my comfort zone can lead to unexpected success. Although I was afraid at first, taking risks gave me confidence and developed a valuable skill that benefits many areas of life. In the end, I was able to build a successful career in public speaking. By the time I finished, I felt relaxed and refreshed rather than exhausted. Looking back, I feel proud of myself for handling the situation well. This experience helped me grow as a person. It was a turning point in my life. If I ever face a similar situation again, I will know how to handle it better. Overall, this experience left a lasting impression on me, and I will cherish the memories forever.
