Rules and regulations are intended to ensure order in society. There are several rules that ensure our society runs smoothly every day. However, there is one particular rule that I personally feel has become redundant. You see, ages ago, a rule was introduced to ensure reservations for backward sections to ensure that their community is represented effectively in both governance and employment. However, I feel that it has become redundant. It no longer has any relevance. We no longer live in the past, so we have to adapt to the current society. Ultimately, these reservations are now suppressing the majority as they are taking away their jobs and giving them to people based solely on their birth. If the ultimate purpose is the eradication of social differences, we should not take measures to remind everyone of their social status at every step. Even in school admissions, reservation is still a common practice, reinforcing the notion that this child belongs to this caste or social class. I find it appalling and insulting. We have come a long way. We have modernized our society, but still, we are not willing to let this reservation go. We no longer need any reservations. Most of the inequalities in society have already been eradicated. While reservations can be helpful in some aspects, they should be evaluated and assessed carefully.
