I would like to talk about a short term job that I would love to do in Canada probably in Toronto. The job I have in my mind is working as a part time assistant in a small cafe for a few months. I come to know about this job through YouTube videos and social media where many international students talk about their part time jobs in Canada. I also heard about it from a few people who have studied abroad. They explained that working in a cafe can be a good way to gain work experience and interact with different kinds of people. In this job, I would mainly responsible for taking customers order, serving food and drinks, keeping the table clean and helping other staff members. I think it would be quite manageable, especially if I received proper training at the beginning. I would prefer to work for around 15-20 hours a week so that I could balance my study and work. There are several reasons why I wanted to do this job. First of all, I want to gain practical experience and become more independent since I would be living in a foreign country. Earning some money by my oven would teach me how to manage my expenses and become responsible. Secondly, I would give the opportunity to meet people from different backgrounds and improve my communication skills I believe that speaking English with customers every day would help me to become more confident and fluent. Finally I think it would be a great learning experience. I would learn how to work in a team, deal with customers politely and handle different situations calmly so all in all the short term job would be a stepping stone towards becoming more independent and gaining valuable experience while living abroad.
