In this learning period, we must learn at least one basic life-saving skill to survive. Here, I would like to shed some light on one skill that I learned once and I think I can teach others, and it is none other than cooking, which I learned during the COVID-19 pandemic when I was in 8th standard. Since we were always stuck at home, I had more leisure time and wanted to learn something creative and useful. At first, I just helped my parents in the kitchen by cutting vegetables and watching them prepare meals. But soon, I started trying recipes on my own. I followed YouTube videos and sometimes food vlogs. I started with basic dishes like pasta, fried rice, and omelettes. Later, I tried baking cakes and traditional meals. I made a lot of mistakes, but that's how I learned. Now, I feel confident enough to prepare a proper meal, and I think I can teach others how to cook too. Especially beginners, I start with the basics like how to prepare ingredients, use common spices, and follow simple recipes. I also show them how to stay safe in the kitchen, like handling knives and using stoves carefully. Cooking is not just a skill; I think it is also a relaxing and enjoyable activity. I believe I can teach others how to cook.
