I am going to talk about a skill that I learned from my maternal grandmother, who has always been my idol in many ways. She taught me a very useful skill: time management. She was a principal and managed both her home and school perfectly. When I went to college, I struggled to complete my day-to-day tasks because, no matter what I did, there were always some tasks pending on my list, and I was unable to complete everything I had planned for the day. That's when I called her and asked how to manage my time and how to get through my day without feeling regret at the end. She invited me over for vacation, and I stayed with her for about 10 to 15 days. She asked me to observe her and how she got her things done. I did that, and we started with the basics. Since then, I have been able to manage my day without inconsistencies, and I even have time to spare for a nap. I learned it from the very best. My grandmother is the only person I have ever seen with such a great work-life balance. She kept her personal and professional lives completely separate, and that was what I wanted to learn from her. It was the one thing I always admired about her: how she perfectly manages both aspects of her life. It is important, because in today's world, if you cannot manage your time, you will struggle to achieve many of the things you plan to do. If your day is well-managed, I think you are halfway to reaching your goals. Managing time is an essential skill in today's world. So, that's pretty much it. Time management is the most important skill that I learned from an older person, and I am happy that I learned it from my grandmother.
Actual audio transcript (What native speakers are likely to hear):

I am going to talk about a skill that I learned from my maternal grandmother and she actually has always been my idol to do a lot of things and she taught me a very useful skill that is time management. See, she was a principal and she used to manage her home and school both of things very perfectly at that time. So when I went to college, I was always struggling to complete my day-to-day tasks because no matter what I did, there’s always some tasks pending in my list and I was not able to complete all the things that I had planned for the day. And so that’s when I called her and asked about how to manage my time and how to get on with my day so that I don’t feel regret at the end of the day. So she invited me over for the vacation and I stayed with her for like 10 to 15 days and she asked me to observe her, that how she’d get her things done. So I did that and we started with the basics and after that pretty much I have been able to manage my day without any inconsistencies or I may have an arrow to spare just to take a nap and I learned it from the very best. Because my grandmother, she’s the only person that I have ever seen with such a great work-life balance. She kept her personal and professional lives totally different and that’s what I wanted to learn from her because that was the one thing that I always admire about her, that how she perfectly manages both her lives. And it is important, I mean in today’s world if you are not able to manage your time, you are not able to achieve many things that you are planning to do. So if your day is pretty much managed, I think you are halfway through your goals. And I mean managing a time is an essential skill in today’s world. So yeah, that’s pretty much it. That iron time management is the most important skill that I learned from an older person and I am happy that I learned it from my grandmother.
