There are many teachers in my life who influenced me throughout my educational life. But that one teacher who influenced me the most is my English teacher, Mohammed Hassan. He was tall and always looking us to engage in every education activity that he taught. His classes were always very interactive and entertaining. He didn’t consider himself as a teacher or instructor but he considered himself as a guide and mentor. This was evident in his last 10 minutes of his class which he dedicated to ask reflective questions. He would ask things like what do you want to be when you grow up and then immediately ask a follow-up question why. If someone said that if I want to be a doctor then immediately ask why do you want to be a doctor and this encouraged us to think more deeply about our answers. And this kind of question also made us believe that we should have a positive role in our community, not just on ordinary. His classes were never to be mundane or repetitive. Like a typical class we used to have. His classes were always interactive and entertaining. When he explained some topics, he always insisted on a student participation because he believed that student voice could affect other students and provide better understanding for the class. This also led us that if someone student could not understand the topic then he can learn from his classmates. He understood the way he explained the topic and expressed himself that was crucial in ensuring that everyone grabs the topic. Even after the class when we meet him at a hold or during the break he always offers a year for he offers a land on ear and offers a help and we always warmly welcome him and say goodbye with peace.
