It was my aftermath, and the holidays were taking place after my second year. I was having a rest and was in a pretty bad situation. I was at home, and I decided to take a gap year, you know, take a step back from all the hustle and the stress of studies. I had been constantly studying for about thirteen years, jumping from one class to another, so it was quite an overwhelming situation. I thought I needed a break from all that noise in my life, so I decided on a gap year. However, my parents had some other thoughts in mind. They said that it would make me fall behind others, and when I went back to studying again, it would have quite an effect on me. At first, I was quite reluctant, but my parents forced me to apply to universities just to see what results came in. The results were according to my expectations and preferences because I was getting rejected by every university, and my chances of taking a gap year were increasing day by day. But lastly, there was one university that accepted me, and I had to go there. I was quite angry; I thought that my parents had won and I had lost. They did not pay heed to my words and did not consider my opinion as something valuable. But it turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life. If I had taken that gap year, I would have definitely fallen behind others and gotten into bad hobbies. The university developed such good things in me: it built my confidence, developed my sense of teamwork, taught me how to work well with others, and improved my communication skills. It increased my exposure overall. So in the end, I feel quite good about that decision, and I am thankful for my parents.
