The first time someone sought my opinion was an experience that made me feel valued and trusted. It happened during my final year at university when my young cousin asked for my advice about choosing extracurricular activities. The situation arose during a family gathering, and he explained he was overwhelmed by the number of extracurricular options at his school. He had to choose between joining the soccer team, a club, or learning to play a musical instrument. I knew how important these decisions were for him because extracurricular activities can shape skills like building confidence and also influence career paths. I understood that choosing extracurricular activities could help him improve his confidence, critical thinking, and communication skills. I wanted to give him thoughtful advice, so I began by asking some questions about what he enjoyed doing most and what he was curious about. Then I suggested he try the club. After a few weeks, he told me he joined the club and that it was the most important and beautiful decision. I was very happy with the decision he made. Because of that, I felt valued and proud of myself.
