Band 7+: describe a time when you told your friend an important truth

I remember once I told my friends an uncomfortable truth. So this just happened a few weeks ago about my boyfriend’s look. So it also made me think about the importance of honesty in relationships. So back then, my boyfriend had been mentioning for months that he needed a haircut, because his hair had grown quite long and unruly. When he finally went to get it done, I was generally looking forward to see his new look. However, when he saw me the result, I was a bit stunned and struggled with what to say because the look wasn’t as good as I expected and also it doesn’t fit his style. So once I was way shorter than the other and it made him look a bit awkward. So at the moment, part of me wanted to say something supportive and complimented him. So I took a deep breath and tried to hold my laugh and tell him the truth that while I appreciate him trying something new, but this new style really didn’t work for him. And I was saying like this is not his fault. We should blend on the hairdresser. But to my surprise, I thought he might be pissed off or upset. He actually laughed and said I knew it. My mom is like say the exact same thing this morning. And we both ended up laughing about how his mom and I were on the same wavelength. So these days we joke about that hair car disaster all the time. It has become one of our funny stories. So what really matters was that we both are honest to each other and okay we always tell each other some brutal truth and so I realized it’s truthfully support each other.
