It was when we went from Uzbekistan to China. I was only 11 years old, and at that time, I was in fifth grade. I had to start school in China. The language was so different. Unlike in Uzbekistan, China had its own Chinese characters. At first, I was shocked and cried because it seemed like there was no end, and I could not see the end of the road or see myself succeeding in learning those characters. The reason I had to move from my home country to China was because of my father's job. The difference between my culture and Chinese culture is mainly the language and the people's personalities. China, and mostly Eastern Asian countries, are more conservative. Some do speak directly, but most do not communicate in a direct way. You just have to read between the lines and guess what they want to say or how they feel. Unlike in European countries, they are not straightforward. That was the thing I struggled with most as a child. But now I'm more used to it. In fact, sometimes I think being indirect also has benefits, such as not hurting people's feelings. So by now, I'm already used to it.
