I was helping my cousin who was going through a rough patch in his life. He got upset because he failed an interview that would allow him to work in Japan as a software engineer, and it was his biggest dream ever. He had always wanted to go to Japan, to work there, to live there, and experience the culture. I felt sympathy for him because I knew how it felt to have your goal taken from you because you failed at something. The thing was, it was a preliminary round, and that was what crushed him because he thought he would at least be eliminated at the interview round. At that time, I let him stay at my house for a few days. We played some games, talked, watched movies, anything to distract his mind from the failure that, as he quoted, had happened to him. I was basically there trying to help him however I could. It made me feel glad to be there for him because we were raised together. He is my cousin, but we're more like siblings, to be honest. Even though I was sad because he couldn't reach his dream as soon as he wanted to, I believe in him, and I believe that he could do better next time. This is just a step to a bigger phase in his life, and I feel proud of him no matter what he did. Even though he failed in his eyes, I still think he did everything he could.
