I was glad to share an experience when I was late for an important event. This incident occurred a few weeks ago, right at the beginning of my 11th year. Our school gigs off is obsessed with a concept that gathers parents and students, and during this event, the school council addresses important information regarding the upcoming academic year, including details about fees and extracurricular activities. The friends and I were particularly eager to attend, as we were part of the school supporting and wanted to show our support. On the day of the concert, I was working at the club shop an hour prior to the event, and unfortunately, amidst the hustle and bustle, I misunderstood a customer’s order, which led me to serve them the wrong week. This mixed take result in a repairman from my manager, and I was required to stay an additional hour to justify the situation. I felt a wave of anxiety was over me, knowing that I was supposed to be there for my friends and the parents attending the concert, but instead I was profit-working. In the end, I arrived about 30 minutes late to the concert, only to find that the event had already concluded. I was disheartening to miss out such a significant occasion, especially when I had been looking forward to it. After work, I had to meet with our principal, which made me feel even worse about my absence. I couldn’t shake off the feeling of disappointment for letting my friends down and not being part of the welcoming ever feels for the parents. Reflecting on this experience, I have come up with some strategies to prevent such situations in the future. Firstly, I plan to pay closer attention to customer orders to ensure there are no misunderstandings. Additionally, I believe it would be wise to inform the school if the antecedents are being late. So they are aware of my situation. Ultimately, I learned the importance of balancing work commitments with social responsibilities. The timely attendance can significantly impact my relationship with friends and my involvement in school activities.
