I'm an Egyptian, and as you know, Egypt is a Muslim and Arab nation, so we have a lot of feasts. One of my favorite feasts is Iftar. This is when we complete fasting during the month of Ramadan, and it comes after that, in the month called Shawwal. The first day of this month is called Eid al-Fitr. I love everything about this Eid. We buy new clothing and wear beautiful dresses because I'm a girl. In the early morning, around 6 or 6:30, we go to prayers, called Salat al-Eid, to celebrate. Muslims celebrate with each other, greet one another, hug, enjoy tea, and spend a lot of time together. We visit our relatives and family, and we give Eidiya, which is a gift of money. Older people and men give this money to the children, and it makes us happy. There is also a tradition of giving Eidiya because we receive more money during this time, and this makes it particularly interesting.
