One big ambition I’ve always had but haven’t achieved is becoming a concert pianist. Ever since I was a child, I’ve been fascinated by classical music and completely in awe of professional pianists. I used to imagine myself performing on grand stages, playing masterpieces by highly revered composers like Chopin or Debussy, and moving audiences with my music. But despite my passion, I never quite made it to that level. The main reason is the sheer amount of dedication and practice it takes. I did take lessons for several years and worked really hard to improve. But as I got older, other things started to take priority like school and other responsibilities. Eventually, I just couldn’t dedicate the kind of time needed to become a professional. That being said, I put in a lot of effort over the years. I used to practice for hours on end, every day, learned some pretty difficult pieces, and even performed a small recital. At one point, I seriously considered going to a music conservatory. But I knew that if I wanted to compete at the highest level, I’d have to give up almost everything else. In the end, I decided not to go down that path. Looking back, I have mixed feelings. A part of me does feel a little regret because I know that with more perseverance, maybe I could have gotten closer to my dream. But at the same time, I’m proud of how much I have accomplished. I still love playing the piano. And even though I may never perform in a huge concert hall, music will always be a big part of my life. And that, in itself, is something valuable to me.
