Science has a significant place in our lives. It helps us understand what's going on in our surroundings. It investigates events and claims through systematic observations, experiments, and ideas. Every event or claim must be explained by tangible evidence. Scientists have practiced several ways to prove their hypotheses. Some of them use mathematics, and some of them use their social skills. Unlike others, there is one branch that has a mutual relationship with the rest of the branches. It's called archaeology. It benefits from history, sociology, geography, anthropology, and others to investigate formal cultures using archaeological methods. I remember that I first became interested in archaeology when I visited Pergamon Ancient City. I studied at university in Izmir, and I started visiting landmarks most weekends. I was fascinated by its glory. This city is established on a hill with walls to protect Pergamon from invasions. It has a beautiful view. You can watch the sun descending just above the sea. It's remarkable. You can see the theater, library, and the pedestals of the Altar of Zeus. This is the place where ancient people made vows in memory of the mighty Zeus. As you know, there were ancient religions before Christianity. To honor Zeus, the citizens of Bergama used to make a vow by blood or valuable goods. So they created this monumental construction in the first half of the second century. After my visit to Bergama, I did some research and found pictures of the Altar, which is exhibited in the Pergamon Museum in Berlin. I have never seen an ancient construction that is preserved so well. All the features of the Altar are made from white marble. The columns were in extremely good condition. You can find illustrations of the Great War that took place between the two.
