Mangoes hold a deep cultural significance in our country as well as it is a significant part of our agricultural landscape. You can generally see mango trees all over Bangladesh since they thrive in warm and tropical climates. You can find them on orchards, backyards or even on the streets. Places like Rajshahi and Chapay Noapkanch are really famous for their different varieties of mangoes. Mango trees are generally quite beautiful to look at. It can grow pretty tall and wide with dark green and shiny leaves and in the springtime you can see small white flowers bloom in the trees which attracts bees. As the mangoes grow the color of the mangoes change from green to yellow or red or orange depending on their type. It’s actually a pretty beautiful sight to see when the tree is full of ripe mangoes. So mangoes are important for multiple reasons. The primary reason is that it is a major agricultural product and it contributes significantly to our economy. Bangladesh is known worldwide for its different varieties of mangoes such as Heemshagor, Langra, Amrapali and all these varieties have both local as well as international markets. Mangoes are an important source of income for our farmers and contribute significantly to their livelihoods. Besides, mangoes are also culturally important, significant as they are often associated with the summer season. Personally, I love mangoes. Sometimes I cut them up into pieces and whenever the weather gets too hot I make mango smoothies.
