Well, one really fascinating building actually, it’s more likely a complex of buildings that I saw during the trip, was in the Pakistan Square in Samarkand Uzbekistan. I visited it a couple of years ago when I went there with my family for a short holiday. It looks absolutely stunning. There are three huge meters of us surrounding a big open square. Each one has these incredibly detailed blue and turquoise style mosaics, massive domes and tall minerals and beautiful arch-escorred in geometric patterns and Arabic calligraphy. When the sun hits the tiles, they shine like jewels. It’s really breathtaking, especially in the evening’s light. Nowadays it’s mainly as a tourist attraction and historical site. People come from all over the world to take photos, walk around and sometimes there are small cultural shows or souvenir shops nearby. But the building isn’t used for teaching anymore. They are reserved as a part of Uzbekistan’s UNESCO World Heritage. What I learned there was how advanced Central Asia architecture and science were during the Temurid period of in the 15th, 17th centuries. The square was the center for education, astronomy and religion back then. The Goa’at explained that students studied math, medicine and even the studies there. It made me feel really proud of our religions, historical history and how these buildings have survived for hundreds of years. Honestly, it’s one of the most memorable place I have ever visited.
