My friend believed that remote work and digital devices are becoming or leading to a more flexible work life balance. For him digital tools are for people the opportunity to work from anywhere. However I was a bit skeptical to my mind technology has serious negative effects on workers. Because it has made the people perpetually invisible. For instance, even when workers finish their daily tasks, they still receive notifications from their worker managers. So I believe that it has complicated our lives rather than simplifying them. Although it’s a valid concern, my friend did not want to change his mind. What made the conversation so interesting was not only our different views, but also the way we approached the topic with curiosity and respect. Although we had different views, we both agreed that automation could replace certain jobs while also creating new opportunities. I believe that this conversation was truly beneficial for us because it challenged our thinking and encouraged us to consider different perspectives. Plus it left me more open minded and eager to discuss this topic further.
