We were hit to a beach town about three hours away from our city for a weekend gateway. It was supposed to be a fun and relaxing trip, but things took an unexpected turn. We were about halfway through a journey when we suddenly heard a strange noise coming from the car. At first we thought it was just a minor issue, but then the car started to slow down and eventually came to a complete stop. We pulled over the side of the highway and after a quick check we realized that the engine had overheated. Luckily we weren’t alone, one of my friends was pretty good with cars so we attempted to troubleshoot the problem ourselves. However, despite our effort it quickly became clear that we needed professional help. We had to call for roadside assistance which took a while to arrive because we were in a more remote area. It took an hour for a mechanic to arrive and another 30 minutes to fix the problem. We ended up being stuck by the side of the road for almost two hours in total. The impact of this breakdown was a mix of frustration and inconvenience. We missed out on some out of activity we had planned for that day and we arrived later than expected. However, in the end we made the most of station and the delay gave us more time to chat and enjoy each other’s company while we waited for the head to arrive.
