It’s called the Casa Baló and it is right in the heart of the city on this famous street called Pase da Cracia. I saw it a few years ago when I was on vacation with my family. Now this building is not your typical building you know. It is like something out of a fairy tale. It was designed by this famous architect Antino Gotti. He was known for his well let’s just say unique style. The first thing you notice is the faque. It is all curvy and colorful with these balconies that look like skulls and columns that look like bones. Some people say it looks like a dragon. Some say it looks creepy and the roof. Wow the roof is amazing. It’s all wavy and curved and it’s covered in these colorful ties like dragon back. There are these chimneys that look like mushrooms and it’s just so different from anything I’ve ever seen before and when you go inside it is just as unusual as it is. The windows are all different shapes and sizes and the walls are curved. There are these stained glass windows that cast these beautiful colors on the floor and the ceilings are decorated with these amazing plasterwork designs you know. It’s like walking into a dream. I found this building unusual and abnormal because well it just so unlike anything else. It’s so organic and playful. It’s like Gotti took all the rules of architecture and threw them out of the window. It is a building that makes you smile and it’s definitely some things I’ll never forget.
