This is a significant moment for me because I had just obtained my driving license and was absolutely eager to get apprehensive to drive on my own. The typical drive to the airport from my home takes around 2.5 hours but on this day it took much longer than that. Everything started off well but as I was cruising along a light drizzle began which prompted me to stop the car and ask my dad to take over because I was completely nervous about losing control of the vehicle. To my surprise what started as a major drizzle quickly escalated into a torrential downpour. The rain came down so hard that it felt the skies had opened up on us. Fortunately we managed to leave the airport just in time but my parents faced a challenging journey back home. I was on the road for 2 hours and they were faced with numerous distresses on the way. While the heavy rain didn’t affect me significantly but it caused considerable distress for my parents. I vividly recall seeing cars struggling to manoeuvre through what just happened and they had to go through these many swimming pools. The weather was completely unusual for our region as it is typically characterised by a sunny and pleasant climate throughout the year. Although rain does occur from time to time it is not a frequent occurrence making such a sudden and intense storm quite rare. This unexpected or turn of events not only surprised me but also left a lasting impression showcasing how unpredictable weather can be and challenges it poses even in familiar surroundings.
