There are times in life when decisions are made for you. I'd like to narrate one such event when I changed schools. It was back in 2005 when I was still in the fourth grade. The reason I changed schools was because of my parents' decision. I later came to know that people in my community believed the school to which I was moving had better facilities and that students graduating from that school had greater opportunities in alumni networks. As a result, my parents decided to move me to that school. One morning, I found myself sitting among strangers. The environment felt quite lonely as I pointed out ways to connect with the new people around me. But being a child, it is usually easier to reach out and make new friends. I believe the move was quite helpful because it provided me with opportunities in life and an environment that was distinct from the one I was used to. In the new school, there were other sporting activities like rugby, walking, and swimming, which were not offered at my former school. I always appreciate the move that my parents initiated because it was quite adventurous and worthwhile. I have grown to realize later in life that the networks and connections I made in the new school have become helpful in securing employment and also in getting to know the world as a better place.
