Band 5+: Describe your favorite shop You should say: What the shop is and what it specialises in How often you go shopping at this place What kinds of people usually go to this place and explain why you like it

Your pronunciation is above average. However, you may find complexity in certain words challenging. Regular practice should aid in improvement.

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, including the type of shop, its specialties, and why it is liked. However, the development of certain points could be more thorough. For instance, the frequency of visits is mentioned indirectly through a morning routine, but a direct statement regarding how often the speaker shops there would be clearer. Additionally, the description of the types of people who visit the shop was omitted. To improve, aim to expand on each bullet point with more specific details and personal anecdotes. Providing more descriptive language regarding the atmosphere or the specific types of customers would help in creating a more complete and well-rounded answer. The response could be expanded as it currently feels quite brief.

The speaker demonstrates the ability to maintain a flow of speech, but the coherence is limited by a lack of sophisticated cohesive devices. The response follows a somewhat logical sequence, but the transitions between ideas are abrupt (e.g., moving from the location to the number of floors). To improve, use more complex linking words such as 'Furthermore,' 'In addition to this,' or 'Regarding the people who visit...' to connect your ideas more smoothly. Additionally, the answer is quite short; for a Part 2 task, you should aim to speak for 1-2 minutes by expanding on your descriptions.

The vocabulary used is functional but very basic (e.g., 'many things,' 'different items,' 'many projects'). There were also some word choice errors, such as using 'projects' instead of 'products' and 'packet section' instead of 'bakery' or 'packaged goods section.' To reach a higher band, try to use more precise and topic-specific vocabulary. Instead of 'many things,' use 'a wide array of merchandise' or 'a diverse range of commodities.' Instead of 'collect my products,' use 'pick up my groceries' or 'do my shopping.'

There are several grammatical inaccuracies that affect the precision of the message. Errors include preposition usage ('near from my home' should be 'near my home'), subject-verb agreement ('It overs' should be 'It offers'), and sentence structure ('I appreciate for this store' should be 'I appreciate this store'). The range of structures is also quite limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. To improve, practice using complex sentence structures, such as relative clauses (e.g., 'The store, which is located near my house, offers...') and conditional sentences.
